1. COUNTRIES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE VISA TO KENYA

An entry Visa is required by all foreign nationals seeking to travel to Kenya with the exception of the following :

Please note: Countries marked * do not require visas for a period of stay up to 30 days stay. A stay more than 30 days would require to obtain visa on application

Nationals of Turkey may obtain visas for Kenya on application at the Embassy of Republic of Kenya in Ankara, at any port of entry into Kenya or online visa through www.evisa.go.ke.

 

2. APPLICATION FOR VISAS TO KENYA

The available options to apply for visas to Kenya are:-

  1. Online visa through http://evisa.go.ke or http://ecitizen.go.ke.  Kindly note that these are the only official government websites to apply for Kenyan visas online.  We are not responsible for any applications made through other websites.
  2. Through the Kenya Embassy in Ankara.
  3. At the port of entry in Kenya (Airport, land border or seaport)

NB: These options apply to persons/nationals who require visas to travel to Kenya and who can obtain them on application. 

Turkey ordinary passport holders fall under this category. If holding a different passport check http://www.immigration.go.ke/Information.html under Categories of Visas to confirm the visa category you fall under.

NB. On-line visa application is not applicable to East African tourist Visa and Referred Visas   

HOW TO APPLY FOR KENYAN E-VISA ONLINE

  1. Go to either www.evisa.go.ke  or www.ecitizen.go.ke and click on create eVisa Account.
  2. Once Logged in, Select Department of Immigration Services.
  3. Select submit Application,
  4. Select Kenyan Visa.
  5. Select the type of Visa and read the Instructions Carefully.
  6. Fill in the application form.
  7. Pay using visa card, MasterCard and or debit cards and exit.
  8. After a few days, please “sign-in” again to your evisa account, check your visa status then download the approval and print.
  9. Present your printed eVisa to the immigration officer at the port of entry.

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR KENYAN VISA THROUGH THE EMBASSY

SINGLE ENTRY / TOURISM / VISITOR/ OR BUSINESS

Requirements

  • A valid original passport  with minimum validity of six (6) months or more with at least two (2) blank pages
  • Duly filled visa application form  Click to download the form
  • One passport-sized photo taken on a white background and within the last six months.
  • Visa fees of US Dollars 50 (non-refundable) payable to the Kenya Embassy, Ankara bank account (details).

NOTE

  • letter from the company ( in case of a business trip)
  • Minors (under 18) travelling on their own require written consent from either parent.
  • A business Visa allows you to attend conferences, workshops, seminars or discussions BUT does not allow you to work in Kenya. Those who wish to work in Kenya (paid or unpaid) require authorization (work permit or special pass) from The Director of Immigration Services in Nairobi (P.O. Box 30191, Nairobi Kenya).  Please visit http://www.fns.immigration.go.ke to apply.

POINTS TO NOTE

  • Visa processing fee is non-refundable.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • The possession of a Visa is not the final authority to enter The Republic of Kenya.
  • Engaging in any form of business or employment without a requisite permit or pass is an offence punishable by law.
  • A visa is required prior to entry into The Republic of Kenya.
  • The eVisa printout must be presented at the port of entry.

Please note that the possession of a Kenyan Visa is not the final authority to enter Kenya. The immigration officer at the port of entry may deny permission to land if the visitor is unable to fulfil the immigration requirements and if the entry and presence of such a person in Kenya would be contrary to national interests, even if such a person is in possession of a valid visa for Kenya, provided that any such refusal is consented to by the Director of Immigration Services in Nairobi, his Deputy or Regional Immigration Heads in Mombasa and Kisumu.

A Kenyan entry visa is valid for entry to Kenya within 3 months from the date of issue after which the visa becomes null and void.  The length of stay in Kenya begins on the date of entry into Kenya, NOT from the date of visa issuance. The authority and length of stay is determined and endorsed by an immigration officer at the port of entry Kenya upon your arrival.

EXEMPTION OF VISA FEES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 16 YEARS OLD

The Government of Kenya has waived visa for children under 16 years of age who are accompanying their parents to Kenya.

 

MULTIPLE JOURNEY VISA (MJV)

Requirements

  • Duly filled Visa application forms 22,  Click to download form 
  • Original National Passport,
  • Copy of permit of stay in the country of residence (for non-Turkish nationals),
  • Letter from the company/organization giving details on the nature of business or activities that would warrant such a visa to be considered,
  • Letter from the contact company/organization in Kenya (registration certificate of the company) or a letter and passport copy from the host for an individual's application,
  • 2 coloured passport size photographs.
  • Copy of a return ticket booking and hotel booking
  • Copy of previous visas to Kenya (if any)
  • Police clearance (translated into English)
  • $ 15 (application fee).
  • $ 100 (payable after approval)

 

  

3. REFERRED VISA

The following countries fall under the visa category that require their visa applications to be referred to the Director of Immigration Services in Kenya for further processing.

Referred visa may take longer time to process with no expedited service. (Please note that this service is not available through our online E-visa portal).

  1. Nationals of the following countries:
  • Afghanistan
  • Armenia
  • Iraq
  • Kosovo
  • Lebanon
  • Libya
  • North Korea (Democratic Republic of Korea)
  • Somalia
  • Syria
  • Palestine
  • Tajikistan
  • Yemen
  1.  Holders of Travel Documents or Certificates of Identity (non-national passports).

Please note that the processing period varies from case to case and may take up to two (2) months.

NB

Applicants of referred visas are advised NOT to confirm their travel arrangements until their visas are considered and approval to issue visa is granted.

Referred Visa Requirements

The following requirements must be submitted:-

  1. Request letter (covering letter) which must be signed by applicant.
  2. Introduction letter from employer (if one is employed).
  3. Attach a valid National Passport or Travel Document or Certificate of Identity. The validity must be at least six months at the time of entry to Kenya.
  4.  Copies of bio-data page (information page with picture) of travel document or passport.
  5. Completed (Filled in) visa Application Forms   Click to download form 
  6.  Copies of Permanent Resident Card for Turkey (if the applicant is a resident).
  7.  Copies of signed Letter of Invitation from the host
  8. Hotel/accommodation booking
  9. Air ticket reservation
  10.  Passport size photos (NB: Computer generated pictures are not acceptable)
  11. Banking Slip of Non-refundable processing fees of US Dollars 15 banked in our Kenya Embassy, Ankara bank account (details)
  12. Colour copies of the host’s Identification as follows:-

 For Kenyan hosts : 

  • Please attach colour copies of National Identity (I.D) Card or Bio-data Page of Kenya passport.
  • If you are being invited by your spouse, please attach a copy of Marriage Certificate.

For non-Kenyan hosts:

  •  Please attach colour copies of Alien Certificate Card or Work Permit.
  • Colour copies of Bio-data page of your own Passport/Travel document.
  • If you are being invited by your spouse, please copy of Marriage Certificate
  • Application not meeting the above requirements will be considered INCOMPLETE and will remain unprocessed or returned.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All clients are advised to submit the exact amount of the official fee for the service required in the form of a banking slip as evidence that the fee has been banked into the Embassy’s account. Cash payment is not accepted. No refunds will be made for applications mailed to the Embassy with an amount which is over and above the indicated amount.
  • Visa fees of 50 dollars for a single journey visa or 100 dollars for multiple journey visas will be charged once the visa has been processed and authority to issue is granted from immigration head office, Nairobi. No refund for visa fees paid in advance in a situation where the authority to issue visa has been denied.
  • An official receipt will upon production of banking slip.

To avoid delays in processing your application, please ensure that you have read fulfilled all the requirements listed above.

 

4. DIPLOMATIC PASSPORTS VISA

PLEASE NOTE:

On 20th February 2009, the Republic of Kenya and the Government of the Republic of Turkey entered visa waiver agreement for holders of Diplomatic, Official, Special and service passports. This means that the holders of the aforementioned passport do not require a visa to enter Kenya.

Visa Requirements for Other Countries holding Diplomatic, Official or Service passports.

  • Diplomatic Note (Note Verbal) confirming that the holder is travelling on official duty.
  • A valid national Diplomatic/Official/Service passport (with a minimum validity of six (6) months or more with at least two (2) blank pages)

5. EAST AFRICAN VISA (KENYA, UGANDA AND RWANDA ONLY)

This visa allows for Multiple Entry between Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda within 90 days from the date of issue (Tourism purposes only).

Requirements

  • A valid national passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months with at least two (2) blank pages)
  • Duly filled visa application form.  Click to download the form 
  • Visa fees of US Dollars 100 (non-refundable) to be deposited in Kenya Embassy, Ankara Bank account (details) and the application submitted together with the banking slip.
  • One clear coloured passport size photo with white background taken within the last six months, taken without glasses, or head-gear.  Religious headgear is allowed.
  • Flight itinerary.

NOTE:

  •  Work is NOT PERMITTED.
  • An East Africa Tourist visa shall NOT be extended.
  • Applicants from countries that are on referral visa regime shall apply for the East Africa visa from the Mission whose Government has referral requirements. The holder of the East Africa tourist visa issued by the Mission shall enter through Kenya and move to either Uganda or Rwanda and return to Kenya without having to apply or pay for another visa within a period of 90 days

 

6. TRANSIT VISA

A Transit Visa is issued to persons connecting through Kenya to other destinations within a period not exceeding 72 hours within which no available connecting flight. Those connecting flights directly without leaving the airport do not need to apply for a transit visa for Kenya.

 Requirements

  • A valid original national passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months or more with at least two (2) blank pages.
  • Duly filled application form. 
  • One passport-sized photograph taken on a white background and within the last six months.
  • Twenty (20) US Dollars visa fees payable to Kenya Embassy, Ankara Bank account (details)
  • Flight itinerary.

NOTE:

  • Minors (under 18) travelling on their own require written consent from either parent.
  • Transit visa is only valid for three days specifically for transit only. Applicant must give evidence that he/she is purely on transit and could not get a direct onward flight.

Visa applications without complete requirements will not be processed. Please ensure all the requirements are met.

Visa applicants who intend to undertake an internship/ placement and volunteer work in Kenya are further required to liaise with their host organizations/ companies in Kenya to make an application for the appropriate authorization to the Director of Immigration Services (P.O. Please note that the possession of a Kenyan Visa is not the final authority to enter Kenya. A Kenyan visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance within which one is supposed enter Kenya. If Visa holder fails to enter Kenya within the three months, the visa becomes null and void. For referred visa, the validity is one month. The length of stay in Kenya begins on the date of entry into Kenya, NOT from the date of visa issuance. The authority to stay is the entry stamp issued by the immigration officer at the port of entry. Multiple entry visas are valid for one (1) year or six (6) months.

Important: East African Visa should be taken from the country where the visitor will first land.
