NOTICE: 
The Government of the Republic of Kenya is phasing out the old generation dark blue machine readable passports. H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya has given Kenyans up to 31st December, 2021 to replace this old generation dark blue machine readable passport with the new East African Community E-passport. Please take advantage of this extension.
The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Ankara NOT among the Kenyan embassies authorised to receive applications for the new E.A.C e-passports. 
 

1. APPLICATION FOR EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY DIGITAL E-PASSPORTS

 
Application for this passport is done online through www.ecitizen.go.ke. All Kenyans in Diaspora are notified that the Kenya Embassy in Ankara has not been mandated to issue the new East African Community digital e-passports. 
 
Any Kenyan who wishes to renew or apply for the new digital e-passport is advised to submit in person his/her passport application documents in Kenya(Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Embu) or Kenya Embassies in Germany (Berlin), France (Paris), United Arab Emirates (Dubai) or Kenya High Commission in London, in the United Kingdom.
 
If you choose to submit in any of the above mentioned Embassies, please visit their website for further instructions on application requirements and procedures. You are also required to book or secure an appointment prior to your visit.
 
Steps of application
1. Create and login to the e-citizen account and select Immigration services which will finally take you to passport application.
2. Read the instructions carefully then fill the application form 19 online.
3. Select the mode of payment and pay for the relevant passport fees.
4. Download and print the application form and three copies of the application Invoice (Receipt).
5. Submit the application form in person to either Kenya Embassy, Berlin in Germany, Paris in France, Dubai in United Arab Emirates or Kenya High Commission London in Uk or if you are in Kenya, to Immigration offices passport issuing centres (Nyayo house, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru and Embu.)
6. Please Declare All Your Children during Passport Application
 
During the submission you need the following:
1. Applicants MUST appear in person for digital photo and biometrics capture.
2. An e-citizen pre-filled passport application form 19 and three invoices.
3. Original Birth Certificate and copy.
4. Original National ID Card & copy.
5. Three Current passport size photos.
6. Recommenders ID card copy.
7. Old passport for replacement plus copies of last three pages.
8. Parents National ID cards copies or Death Certificate if deceased.
9. For a Lost case, a sworn affidavit, a police abstract and an explanation letter on circumstances under which the passport got lost.
10. For Mutilated case an explanation letter is required to explain the circumstances of the mutilation.
11. For a child’s passport application, parent will apply using his/her e-citizen account and attach his/her identification documents (Kenya identity card and passport copy), Child birth certificate (if its international, it must be translated and notarised)
 
NOTE:
• Ensure you are using your e-citizen account to apply for your own passport. Applications applied on behalf of others will be rejected.
• Applicant is required to carefully where he/she will submit the application. 
• During submission, applicant must come with original documents and photocopies of the same.
 

2. Application for an emergency travel document

Copy of Identity card or passport copy,
Copy of ticket to Kenya.
Passport fees of US dollars $30 (banked to the Embassy account)

Please note that this passport is the old series which is in the process of being faced out. It will not be useful for international travel as from 1st January, 2022

3. Replacement of a damaged passport

4. Application for a passport for a Child

Letter of request/consent from the parent or guardian of the child,
Original birth certificate, NB: For birth certificates issued by foreign authorities, translations must be done and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in those countries,
Four coloured passport size photographs,
Copy of Identity card and birth certificate of parents or legal guadian,
Recommender’s id Copy or passport copy,
Passport fees of US dollars $80 (banked to the Embassy account)

1. CHILDREN ARE NO LONGER ENDORSED IN PARENTS PASSPORTS
2. PASSPORTS ARE NO LONGER RENEWED BY STAMPING
3. APPLICANTS ARE ADVISED TO PAY FOR SERVICES AS ADVISED UNDER EACH SERVICE
4. ALL POSTAGE COSTS WILL BE HANDLED BY THE RECIPIENT
